Content Creation

3. Content Creation

In order to succeed as an internet marketer, you have to learn to understand how to utilize content to keep the interest of your follower and gain a new audience.

While people will be willing to spend money once you’ve gained their trust, most of your audience is going to be following you for the free content that you provide.

You may be thinking, “Wait, what? So, how is this a viable business model?” That’s a good question and it seems like a strange idea to be giving people things for free when you are trying to make money, but by the time I’m done with this section, you’ll understand just why it is that you need to provide top of the line content for free mixed in with your paid offers.

Why give them free content?

So, let’s start with the initial question that most people are probably asking…why free content at all? How am I going to benefit from giving my customers something for free?

The reason is a lot more simple than you’d think.

Providing your customers and potential customers with free content may feel like a loss, but in reality you are building your credibility, building their trust and keeping their attention.

In order for your customers to be comfortable with giving you their money, they need to know that you have a good idea of what you are talking about. By giving them free content, even things like videos and articles you have found online, you establish that you know what you are talking about and are well read on the topic.

Once they know you are credible, they want to know they can trust you. If everything you send them or post on your social media is clickbait, they are going to see your financial incentives and they are going to think that you’re only reason for posting is to make money (which, in reality is true, but you don’t want them to think that!).

If you vary your content with free content and sales content, they will begin to see you as a credible expert who is looking out for their best interest by showing them products that they can benefit from.

Finally, you are keeping them reading your posts, clicking and engaging with you when you give them food for thought mixed in with sales posts. You have to keep the conversation going and you have to keep people interested if you want them to stick around.

What kind of content?

When I say free content, I don’t mean giving them your entire life’s work on a silver plate. You have to find a balance between them getting enough to keep them interested and them getting so much that your product or affiliates become obsolete.

Give them a gem here and there, but mostly give them things that make them think a little bit and get them excited about moving forward.

How much is too much?

Keep your posts to a reasonable level, but at the same time, don’t be a ghost. You should post at least once a day, two if possible and three if you can realistically find something to say.

Try to mix it up so there are more content posts than sales posts, but even then, don’t make your sales posts too scarce. You want them to be accustomed to you asking for and telling them things.

Don’t go crazy, but make sure to respond on social media and keep your customers engaged.

Social media can make or break your online marketing efforts. If you can open a dialogue, market effectively and create good content, they will follow you, buy from you and come back for more! If not, your online business may start circling the drain.
